Pysanky is a traditional style of egg decorating from the Ukraine using hot wax bees wax applied to the egg in layers using a tool called a KISTKA and dying the eggs in between the layers. Once the design is completed – the how wax is then melted off, revealing the full design.

But this guide is anything but traditional.

I have created these patterns using acrylic paints and the same nail styluses I use for my dot art. These patterns were created for beginners, and I have laid them out a little differently to my dot art patterns, but all the detail is still there for you to follow along step by step. Let your imagination run wild and HAVE fun as you create your very own Pysanky eggs. DONT HAVE EGGS? that’s not a problem…. even though PYSANKY is a traditional egg art, don’t feel limited to use these techniques on just eggs. If you can paint on it – you can PYSANKY on it.
